CUED SPEECH FOR AMERICAN ENGLISH
Cued Speech practice: visual exercises
Practice Cued Speech handshapes and vowel groups through visual recognition, comparisons, flashcards, matching, and spaced review.
Choose the kind of practice you need
Recognition and recall are different tasks. Looking at a chart helps you identify its parts; answering without a label tests whether the connection is becoming familiar. The practice studio includes both approaches.
- Visual recognition: connect an unnumbered hand or placement illustration to its sound group.
- Targeted comparisons: look closely at /p/, /b/, and /m/, the two “th” sounds, or chin versus throat.
- Flashcards and matching: revisit groups and examples at your own pace.
- Spaced review: return to items based on your answers. Using a hint keeps an item ready for more independent practice.
These exercises focus on chart knowledge and visual recognition. They do not measure hand formation, mouth coordination, or timing.
